The Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) hosted a webinar exploring how Nigeria manages its oil and gas revenues and why effective governance of these resources remains critical to public accountability and national development.
The session examined the implications of the new Executive Order, with discussions centred on its potential impact on transparency in revenue management, institutional accountability, and the everyday lives of Nigerians who depend on efficient resource governance for improved public services.
Panelists provided context on long-standing challenges in Nigeria’s extractive sector, including weak oversight mechanisms, gaps in implementation, and the need for stronger transparency frameworks to ensure that natural resource wealth translates into tangible public benefit.
