Dubawa is the verification and fact-checking arm of the programme and is supported by the most influential newsrooms and civic organisations in West Africa to help amplify the culture of truth in public discourse, public policy, and journalistic practice. It commenced operations in Nigeria in February 2018 and now covers the entire Anglophone West African sub-region ( Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia and The Gambia). Dubawa operates under a non-partisan policy, accepting only to uphold the values of accuracy, balance, transparency, verification, independence, and accountability in all its operations. It is a signatory of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) and is guided by its principles in all its operations. Dubawa is a leader in election, health, political and conflict fact-checking with aspirations for automated fact-checking.
