CJID AI Campus Network

The CJID AI Campus Network is an ambitious initiative by the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) to train 10,000 young Africans in artificial intelligence, digital technology, and media technology by 2030.

Our goal is to democratize access to world-class AI and tech training, equipping Africa’s next generation of tech leaders with the skills and tools to innovate, create jobs, and solve real-world challenges.

Programme Components

Coding Bootcamps

Tailored for secondary school students, university undergraduates, NYSC members, and young professionals.

Learning Hubs

Equipped with computers and internet access to support practical, hands-on training.

Mentorship & Industry Internships

Participants will gain experience working with leading tech companies, startups, and research institutions.

Who can apply to join the CJID AI Campus Network?

The program is open to secondary school students, university undergraduates, NYSC members, and young professionals across Africa who are interested in building skills in artificial intelligence, coding, and digital technology.

Do I need prior coding experience to join?

No. The program is designed for both beginners and those with prior experience. We will offer beginner, intermediate, and advanced tracks to meet participants at their skill levels.

Where will the program be available?

The AI Campus Network will launch first at the University of Lagos in Nigeria, and will gradually expand to other universities across Nigeria, Ghana (from Q4 2025), and additional African countries.

Is there a fee to participate?

Participation is free for selected applicants. CJID will provide learning hubs, computers, internet access, and expert-led training. However, participants may be responsible for their own transportation or accommodation if required.

What kind of training will I receive?

Participants will receive training in: Coding and programming, Machine learning and AI fundamentals, Data science, AI ethics and responsible innovation and Digital media technologies.

Will there be internship opportunities?

Yes. CJID and its partners will facilitate internships and mentorships with tech companies, startups, and research institutions to provide hands-on industry experience.
